• Studying the collection
• Collaborating on a public program
• Using footage in a creative work
The South Side Home Movie Project provides footage for commercial and non-commercial use on a per-case basis.
Due to the personal nature of our collection we are sensitive to the how the collection is used and distributed. Though SSHMP holds the copyright to around 90% of its holdings the ownership of some of our footage is unknown as it comes from orphaned or found films. Additionally due to the large volume of persons who can appear in home movie footage, SSHMP makes no warranties that all permissions have been cleared by the persons appearing in each film.
Please fill out the form provided with your name, contact information, affiliation and a brief abstract of the project. We provide access to our footage at no charge for research purposes. Should you require a screener of our footage there is a nominal set-up charge of $50. Screeners are provided digitally with time code embedded.
Our footage rates are available upon request. All fees go toward the processing, digitization and preservation of all of our films.
We require a minimum 2-week processing time for requested clips. Anything under that time period will incur a rush charge.
